2008 Dinner and Auction

Our sixth annual dinner and auction is scheduled for April 5, 2008 at the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center here in Casper. Our guest speaker will be Mike Eastman, renowned western hunter and TV personality. Mike is both a dynamic and entertaining speaker and we are extremely fortunate that he has agreed to speak at our 2008 event. Seating for the dinner event will be restricted to SCI members and guests with the seating limited to approximately 300 individuals. An Advance Ticket Reservation Form is included under the "Dinner Tickets" navigation link. Advance ticket sales will begin immediately on a first-come, first-served basis and tickets will not be available at the door. This year, seating for the event will be rounds of eight and we will accept reservations for entire tables on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of $40.00 per table. Early table reservations will assure good seating for the presentation by our guest speaker. Table reservations must be accompanied by payment in full for the table and anticipated guests in accordance with the guidelines set forth on the Advance Ticket Reservation Form referenced above. For those out-of-town members traveling to Casper for the April event, we have set aside a block of rooms at the Parkway Plaza Hotel at a special rate of $60.00 per night (a $25 discount over their regular rate). You will need to specify that you are attending the SCI Dinner Event (Banquet) at the time your reservation is made in order to receive the discounted room rate. For room reservations call the Parkway at 307-235-1777 or you may contact Bob Anderson at 307-473-1268 for additional information in this regard. A listing of the live and silent auction items to be offered on April 5th will be posted to the site at a later date.

2008 SCI Mini Convention

The Central Wyoming Chapter will sponsor a “mini” Hunter’s Convention once again this year in conjunction with our annual white elephant dinner event. The convention will be at the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Center, will be patterned somewhat after the annual SCI Hunter’s Market, and will include exhibitors who will display their products and services. The "center pieces" of the convention this year will be the 2008 Eastman's Trophy Deer Display and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's Stop Poaching Exhibit featuring trophy big game animals taken illegally in Wyoming. We also plan on having a LaserShot simulator available which will allow convention attendees (and especially the kids) to hone their shooting skills using the simulator. The show will be open to the general public at no charge beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday morning, April 5th, and will remain open until 6:00 pm that evening. Confirmed exhibitors so far include Brandon Bailey (artist); Don’s Custom Knives; Eastman's Publishing, Inc.; Jim Blair Engraver; Roger M. Green Gunmaker; S-n-S Outfitters; Safari Outfitters; Sportsman’s Warehouse; Wyoming Game and Fish Department; Wyoming Outfitters and Guides Association; and the Wyoming Wildlife Heritage Foundation. The Central Wyoming Chapter will sponsor an open house on Friday evening between 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Parkway with free draft beer and hors d’ouvres for our exhibitors and members of the Central Wyoming Chapter. Be sure and drop by our open house for some refreshments and for an opportunity to visit with our exhibitors one-on-one.

2008 White Elephant Bar-b-Que Update

Embossed wrist bands will be utilized for admission to the upcoming White Elephant Bar-b-Que sponsored by the Central Wyoming Chapter. There will be a registration table at the entrance to the mini-convention where you may pick up your wrist bands prior to the dinner. We will have a list of the attendees and will check your name off of the list upon your arrival. You may pick up your wrist bands any time during regular show hours as indicated above. As in past years, we will sponsor both silent and live auctions again this year. The silent auction will begin when the doors open and will continue through dinner. The live auction will begin immediately following our featured speaker and will be limited to less than 30 items so that we can conclude the evening at a reasonable hour. Please refer to the attached Live and Silent Auction lists for a description of the items to be offered in both auctions. Please understand that we do reserve the right to make last-minute modifications and/or substitutions to the proposed lists of live and silent auction items prior to the actual event. Raffles planned for the 2008 event will include a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds from ticket sales split evenly between the Central Wyoming Chapter and the winning ticket holder. Tickets for the 50/50 raffle will be priced at $10.00 per ticket. Ticket sales will commence when the doors open for the dinner event on Saturday afternoon and will continue through dinner; and a card raffle for a Browning gun safe. Cards for the gun safe will be priced at $20.00 per card and will only be available for a very short period during the dinner event. Finally, we have a number of donated hunts that we will be offering during the course of the evening as follows: 1) A fully guided fifteen bird hunt with Cole Creek Outfitters for up to four hunters; 2) a seven day (2X1) plains game hunt in the KwaZulu-Natal (Mkuze) area of South Africa with Henk Brink/Kido Safaris in either 2008 or 2009 for two hunters. The donation includes full accommodations for two hunters and seven full days of hunting. Each hunter must harvest four antelope species during the hunt - trophy fees are not included. The hunt is upgradeable for additional days at the published daily rate; and 3) a three day “high volume” dove hunt for four hunters in Argentina in 2008/2009 with Francisco Riestra/Argentina Bird Hunts. The donation includes full accommodations for four hunters. Not included are gun permits, shotgun shells ($10/box for 12 or 20 gauge), hunting license ($195) and tips to bird boys and staff. Pre-payment for hunting license and 50 boxes of shotgun shells is required 90 days prior to hunt. If you would like to have additional information on any of these hunts prior to Saturday evening, please contact Bob Anderson at 307-473-1268.
